Diamonds in the Ruff

The “Diamonds In the Ruff” program is intended to enhance the likelihood of adoption for dogs that are classified as “difficult to adopt.”  One dog a week is selected for the program and is vaccinated, neutered or spayed, and micro chipped.  The dog is advertised in the Denton Record Chronicle each Sunday in the Lane Real Estate section.  They pay for this advertising.  The adoption fee for the dog is $60.00, again ½ of the normal adoption fee.  Any dog not adopted will find a home with a animal rescue organization.  None of the dogs will be euthanized.

A member of the DASF Board is underwriting the “Diamonds in the Ruff” program at $60.00 a week from September 2009 through August 2010.  If the program is successful, the program will have a rolling two-year extension.

Fifty one dogs have been adopted (one dog ran two weeks and then found a home).  All dogs thus far have been adopted!
